TRUTH OR FICTION?
Could Giles be the son of Anthony Slocombe?
With the new DNA evidence, it is possible that Giles was the son of Anthony. We have as much evidence that he wasn't the son of Anthony as we do for the possibility that it could be true.
The one thing we now know for sure, they both have one common ancestor. Philip Slocombe of Old Cleeve may be the son of William Slocombe of Wiveliscombe, Somerset, England. If this is true, Philip had a half brother named Giles and the oldest child of William. Two children are listed for this Giles Slocombe. Joan and William, both born in the early 1600s. There are many possibilities but very few old records to prove their relationship.

"Joan" The Wife of Giles Slocombe - Porstmouth, RI
Joan's maiden name remains a mystery. We know that the Thomas Cooke Family was somehow related, but it becomes obvious that Joan was neither the daughter nor the sister of Thomas Cooke, Sr.. If she is his sister, her name would be Tackle. (The Cooke Family History, By: Jane Fisk) The Wyoming and Lackawanna Valleys Pennsylvania -Book - Volume I - lists her name as Burton, and yet Other's list it as Harvey.
On Giles Slocombe's will, an Arthur and Margaret Cooke signed his will. They are or must be somehow related. I find that Arthur and Margaret were from London, England, lived in Portsmouth, RI, and later lived in Boston. Joan could have been a sister to Arthur or Margaret. I also believe that Thomas Cooke, Jr's wife, Thomasine, was sister of Joan.
